ROUND 8: City to scarbs

Once again, the OWS Series is excited to be returning to Scarborough Beach for the eighth round of the 2023/4 OWS Series. This round is proudly presented by City of Stirling & New Town Toyota!

Distances available: 500m, 1km, 2.5km and the 5km City Beach to Scarborough point to point race. 

Event Information

You must bring your e-ticket with you to present to our team of volunteers. You will be automatically allocated the next tattoo and chip number in the system 

Your entry pack includes a timing chip, race tattoo and race coloured cap depending on your chosen distance.  it is compulsory to wear these at all times during the swim for identification purposes.  Note: OWS silicon caps can replace the cap in your pack as long as the colour matches the distance you have entered.

NOTE THAT ENTRY PACK PICK UP & LATE REGISTRATIONS WILL CLOSE AT THE START OF THE FIRST RACE OF THE DAY. 

IF YOU ARRIVE AFTER THIS TIME, YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT. THIS IS A WATER SAFETY MEASURE AND IS STRICTLY ADHERED TO.

How do I get to the start line?

Swimmers participating in the 5km City Beach to Scarborough Beach event will register at Scarborough Beach Amphitheatre and then be transported to the start line at City Beach via designated buses.

What time does registration open?

Registration opens at 6:30am and closes at 7:30am sharp. The race is scheduled to commence at 8:00am.

What times do the buses leave from Scarborough Beach to City Beach?

Buses will depart from the New Town Toyota Pick-up Zone at the following times: 6:45am, 7:15am, and 7:40am. 50-seater buses are available, and we encourage prompt arrival at City Beach after registration. Staff and volunteers will be on site to assist you.

What do I do with my belongings?

Swimming WA (SWA) does not take responsibility for any belongings. If you need to leave bags, a designated bag drop zone will be set up at Scarborough Beach, enclosed by mesh. SWA’s branded New Town Toyota car at City Beach will bring back SMALL BAGS ONLY. Space is limited, and SWA does not take responsibility if all participants cannot be accommodated.

Can I use a paddler?

Absolutely! 5km swimmers are encouraged to swim with a paddler. Paddlers should make their way to City Beach and proceed to the paddler zone as indicated on the map, arriving 5 minutes before the race’s start.

How do I change my distance?

Note: Changes to race distances can be made online up to one day before the event.  It is recommended if you wish to change your distance to do so as early as possible to avoid queues.

Step 1. Click here

Step 2. Enter the email that was used to register for your swim

Step 3. Select the event you wish to change, the distance and click the “Access” link.

Step 4. Scroll down to the Event heading and click the green “Edit” button.

Step 5. Select your desired distance and click the green “Continue” button and follow the prompts through to the end.

Note that there is a $2 charge to make alterations so we recommend only changing when you are sure of your choice.

Race Tattoos, Timing Chips and Caps.

If you are an OWS member, Masters member or Non member.
  • You will receive two individually numbered race tattoos. These need to be applied to the outside of each of your arms. You will also receive a timing chip that is placed on your wrist and a coloured  swimming cap based on the distance you are swimming. (See wave times for more information)
If you are a SWA Member.
  • You will receive a a set of six tattoos. You need to be apply 2 tattoos to your shoulder blades, arms and wrists. You will also receive two timing chips that are to be placed on your wrists and a coloured  swimming cap based on the distance you are swimming. (See wave times for more information 
How to apply your Tattoos

No need to wait in line, you can apply the tattoo yourself:
1. Separate tattoos
2. Remove plastic coating
3. Apply to arm with logo at the top of the arm as pictured below
4. Apply water for 1min (wet cloth is best) or until soaked through
5. Slowly remove paper

Note: Make sure to apply the race tattoo before your sunscreen.
