What a fantastic day down at Mullaloo today to mark the midway point of the OWS Series. Today’s event was presented by the City of Joondalup and Westpac with 650 swimmers choosing to #comeswimwithus this morning.
If you were looking to qualify for the Rottnest Channel Swim or just swim off some of that Christmas feasting, we had a swim for everyone from 500m, right up to 10km.
Our round presenter Westpac had popcorn for the spectators and SunSmart provided well needed extra shade. Nova 93.7 Casanovas were again on site with giveaways and provided the tunes throughout the day while Aussie Natural Spring Water kept everyone hydrated with drink bottle refill stations throughout the event. Thanks again to The West Australian for keeping everyone on course with our brand new swim markers.
A special thanks to our volunteer officials, water safety and of course all our swimmers who really do make the OWS Series the event we all love to be apart of.
Get set for Round 7 of the OWS Series as ALCOA take us to beautiful Harvey Dam for the first swim of 2019 on Saturday the 5th of January.
But until then, from all of us here at Swimming WA, have a safe and happy new year.
Join us for the final swim of 2018 at beautiful Mullaloo Beach.
This event will test even the strongest of open water swimmers, with five course lengths ranging from 500m right up to the marathon distance of ten kilometres.
Date: Saturday 29 December 2018
Start time: 7:30am (Main event 8:00am)
Distances: 500m, 1.25km, 2.5k, 5km and 10km
For 10km swimmers, paddlers will be permitted on the ocean side of the course to provide food and water.
Registrations on the day open at 6:30am and close at 7:30am sharp. Please come down within this time to check your name off and collect your kit. Registrations after 7:30am will not be accepted as this is a swimmers safety issue and is taken seriously.
