The Swimming WA Open Water Swimming (OWS) Series is the largest series of the OWS events in Australia. The OWS Series has become an icon of the Western Australian sporting calendar, attracting amateur and professional swimmers from age nine to ninety-nine.
Now in its 10th year, the series includes 14 events conducted across Perth and regional WA from October to March.
With the 2017 Open Water State Championships scheduled for November at Champion Lakes and for the little ones, the Champions of the Bay at Rottnest in February 2018, this year’s calendar has something for everyone.
Events start at 500m and span distances all the way up to 10km. While swimmers can use their times to qualify for Nationals and/or record an official placing and score points in the OWS Series, Swimming WA encourages everyone to have a go and be a part of what is sure to be an exciting series.
Some highlights this year are the Australia Day round at Sorrento beach, as well as the fresh water event in Harvey Dam. The series will culminate in Perth on Sunday, March 25th with the Swim the Swan alongside Langley Park.
We can’t wait to see you as you #challengeyourself this summer!
